Deregister Imessage

If you switch from an iphone to anything else, and don't have the phone anymore, you won't get a lot of text messages because imessage will be sending them to an Iphone that doesn't exist any more.

Tracking code still on verizon

If you use verizon to get on the internet, it will attach a tracking code to every web request from your phone.

Upgrade to a SSD

It used to be the best upgrade for you mac was more ram, now I believe the best upgrade for you mac is an SSD.

If you have a mac book air, you already have one! That is why it boots so fast and runs applications.

To buy a mac with an SSD is an arm and a leg, and the Fusion drive is an expensive option too.

Macs that can be upgraded easily:

Older Laptops that could be taken apart (especially the white ones).

Any desktop with a Firewire or Thunderbold port.

For the Desktop, thunderbolt is the fastest option, but the most expensive, ad firewire is almost as fast, but a lot cheaper for the enclosure.

So you need 3 things,

1. SSD

I usually go to dealnews and see if there are any deals,

http://dealnews.com/search.html?search=ssd

The best brand is samsung, but I have bought crucial and sandisk and had good luck. I never buy one that is not highly rated by amazon or newegg though. Right now it is about 40-50 cents a gigabyte.

2. enclosure

I bought this thunderbolt enclosure for a desktop and it worked for me:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B009HQCARY/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o08_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

you still need to buy the cable too!

firewire is much cheaper,

http://www.amazon.com/Seagate-FreeAgent-GoFlex-Upgrade-FireWire/dp/B003IT6PHC/ref=pd_sim_pc_5?ie=UTF8&refRID=09M16BWGMQGZN39AHY0S

This comes with a built in cable...

If you have a laptop, you need a usb adapter

3. Software:

I used super duper, it is still free

http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/13803/superduper!

and after it is all said and done, you need to activate trim on your new hard drive with Chameleon SSD Optimizer

There are a lot of guides on the internet about this
