May 2014 ST Mug Meeting

Macbook air update:

Apple just refreshed their macbooks and made them $100 cheaper, you can find last years models for $200 cheaper on most websites.

Spreadsheet and Word processors for the ipad/iphone

Ever since apple made their numbers and pages free, microsoft has stepped up to the plate!

First off lets go over google's offering,

Google Docs [Direct Link
Google Sheets [Direct Link]

Docs is a bare bones word processor, the only advantage is that you can still compose when there is no signal around.

Sheets is just as bad, you have to manually type in the forumals if you want them.

Microsoft Excel for iPad [Direct Link
Microsoft PowerPoint for iPad [Direct Link
Microsoft OneNote for iPad [Direct Link]

Word, excel, and powerpoint have come to IOS, and if you have a 365 account, you can use it for free.

If you don't have a 365 account, you can still look around for free, and onenote is supposed to be free forever.

The biggest thing it did not have was printing when it came out, and microsoft just fixed that in the last week.

Iwork for the ipad is pretty good

but it still does not have all the features that microsoft has for their applications...

Evernote

evernote just got a little better

partially because OneNote is out for IOS now. The major new features are business card scanning like Cardmunch, and audio recording.

Google Search

Siri works pretty good, but if you prefer google's offerings, then try google search, I prefer the google maps when searching for businesses especially.
