Storm tracker websites

Since it is hurricane season, here are my favorite websites for tracking a storm:

This one you can pay for to get a little extra, but the free one is quite nice:

On the upper right you can turn on all the features

Weather underground is one of my favorite weather websites:

Iphone 4 woes

With the first 3 iphones being so rock solid, it's hard to believe that there are serious problems with the iphone 4,

My take on it is that none of the beta testers used a phone without a protective case for obvious reasons...!

Anandtech give a full review on the problem:

They acutally hacked the new iphone so they could see numerically how much signal was lost when you put the hand up to the phone,

The verdict is that the antenna, even while holding the phone the wrong way, get a much better signal than the Iphone 3gs, and

if you acutally buy a case for it, you can use the new Iphone even farther into dead spots where an older Iphone simply did not work.

Some things I did not know is that you can 'upgrade' your phone before the 2 year contract is out and not pay the full price.

Skinit:

Skinit can now do skins for the ipad, nook, and iphone 4

GPS on an Iphone

Most people do not realize that the Iphone has a full GPS built in, one caveat is that the Ipad has a 'more accurate' GPS,

I have not heard if the Iphone 4 has the better GPS yet.

GPS on pictures:

Every picture you take with an Iphone can have the GPS corrdinates built in to the picture, so if you are on a camping trip, and find a new

cave that has never been discovered, or some massive Dinasaur bones, then simply taking a picture of it will give you a picture with the GPS

corrdinates of whatever you were shooting.

Some people might not want their location in the picture, and you can either remove that info after you take the picture, or turn the GPS off

If you need more functionallity, there are lots of geocacheing apps out there,

GeoCacheing a hobby where people hide stuff all over the place, upload the corrdinates to a website, and

other people can find the cache, and find what was left there. This has made a whole bunch of apps that will let you

mark and find stuff all over the globe.

GPS kit looks like it does the most, it will send all your waypoints to google earth for easy viewing.

stolen laptop

There are lots of programs to let you track down you stolen laptop, virtually none of them are free, unless your are already paying for a mobile me account.

The original laptop protection was lojack:

http://www.lojack.com/

There is a new one that is free for 3 laptops

http://preyproject.com/

These will let you see the screens that the theif is looking at, take a picture with the laptop's camera and send it to you, and if there is GPS in the laptop, it will send your the GPS corrdinates!

picassa collage

A really neat thing to do with a bunch of pictures from a trip is to make a digital collage.

apple a day

I found a slideshow of apples over the years.

Selling a book on Itunes/amazon

There is a book called answers that asked me how to get published on Amazon.

Answers is a book of questions that need answering of important stuff like where you will is,

bank accounts numbers, life insurance policies ect. You can find the book at http://answersbook.com/

To sell a book on Itunes you need to be an itunes contect provider:

http://www.apple.com/itunes/content-providers/

You have to sign up and then they will get back to you.

Amazon has several ways to sell books on their website, they take a 55% commision,

Here are 2 webistes describing how:
