St Mug's June Meeting

Well, we had a vote last evening pertaining to the future of the user group...the actual existence of the group was not in question, but as to how the meetings would progress for the time being.

Since my time has become more and more scarce (ironically thanks to the increasing pervasiveness of gunkware on PC’s) I had to realize I couldn’t spend enough time to do a satisfactory job in making presentations or demonstrations to the group month after month. So.....

Thanks to John Rankin, Jeff McKamey and Robert Mattingly, there will be a noticable change in the meetings but not the officers (such as we are) in the group. John, Jeff and Robert hashed out the idea of rotating the demonstration portion of the meetings between the four of us so you’ll have a rotating and fresher perspective on a larger variety of interesting subjects. The meetings will still be same time/same bat-channel, but if you attend regularly, you’ll need a program to keep up with the players.

I will continue to serve as president of the group with Jeff M and Bill McBride as co-veeps. Bill Schroeder continues as the one with the checkbook. (Treasurer to be official about it) and Jeff, Robert, John and I are co-demonstrators for the forseeable future.

Thanks again for those who attended, thanks to Jeff, Robert and John for stepping up and I really do think we have the makings for some very interesting meetings in the future. With each demonstrator having more time to get to learn a new program (if that’s necessarily the case) we’ll get a demo from someone who has had a real chance to get into the innards of a program instead of just glossing over the surface as has been the case fairly recently at least a couple of times *pangs of guilt *

So with a new lineup coming up, next meeting will feature Jeff at the front and he said he would be showing off what Excel can do (and believe me when I tell you this is a major area of weakness for me...I do NOT excel) and after seeing what he was able to do with AppleWorks, this should be quite interesting.

One last note: thanks to Bill McBride for bringing up a number of pamphlets on the group for members to take with them and give to people who might be interested in attending. Nice touch.

Onward and upward...
Tom Hand
Still the Prez.
